On Friday, June 2, SPOT 127 students and their families gathered at the Rio Conference Center along with SPOT staff, KJZZ East and West Valley bureau senior field correspondents and members of KJZZ staff to showcase the students' work from the 2016-2017 school year. Attendees enjoyed a taco buffet and were treated to highlights of the students' audio, video and photography stories.

SPOT 127 was honored to recognize two outstanding SPOT 127 graduating seniors at the event for demonstrating exceptional leadership. Itzel Rios Soto and Hamblet Lemus were named the 2017 winners of the Carl Matthusen Youth Leadership Award, named for the longtime KJZZ general manager. Mr. Matthusen was on hand to present the awards, and each recipient received a $500 scholarship to the college or university of their choice.
